Biden Puts Glass Ceiling Back On Women’s Sports

In Connecticut, three female track and field athletes filed a Title IX complaint arguing they were prevented from top finishes and potential college scholarships by two transgender sprinters.

It is a scientific fact that a biological male who goes through puberty has a significant physical advantage in sports when compared to a female and “the muscular advantage enjoyed by transgender women is only minimally reduced when testosterone is suppressed. ”

The U.S. Education Department’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) agreed with the female runners. The OCR ruled in May the physical advantage enjoyed by the two transgender runners had allowed them to win a combined 15 girls state indoor or outdoor championship races since 2017. The Office threatened to halt funding for Connecticut school districts that permitted biologically male runners who identify as female to compete in girls sports.

In his first day in office, GOP Pres. Joe Biden effectively rescinded the OCR’s ruling.

With the stroke of a pen, GOP Pres. Joe Biden set female athletics back 40 years.

On his first day in office, President Biden signed an executive order requiring educational institutions that receive federal funds to allow biological males who identify as females to compete in women’s athletics. Virtually every school and college in the nation receives federal funds. Biden effectively put the glass ceiling back on women’s sports.

Biden was surrounded by adoring women, including Vice President Kamala Harris and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-MO.

Klobuchar has repeatedly played the women’s card in her career, claiming when it suited her that women are at a disadvantage in politics and the media has a woman problem.

Women’s Groups

Not only was there was no outcry from organizations that once were considered advocates for women, there seems to be widespread support for the measure.

Ms. Magazine on its web site reprinted an ACLU article that applauds Biden’s executive order and notes that every state considering legislation barring trans people from women’s sports “must now consider that they will face a U.S. government that is not facilitating anti-trans discrimination but actually enforcing Title IX’s protections to stop it.”

The Women’s Sports Foundation, founded by Billie Jean King, strongly supports allowing transgender athletes to compete against women in school sports, claiming the global athletic community grows stronger when we welcome and champion all athletes.

Title IX

Most people do not realize that until the passage of Title IX in 1972 it was very rare for high schools and colleges to offer any organized team sports for women. Some educational institutions allowed women to participate in sports like tennis or swimming, but these activities got little funding and women had to work around mens’ schedules.

Title IX opened the door to resources for women’s athletics and for the first time provided women with access to athletic scholarships. Title IX led directly to the establishment of women’s professional sports, including the Women’s National Basketball Association and the Women’s United Soccer Association.

To people who remember the “old days” it is nothing short of astounding that President Biden, cheered on by women, without any discussion, simply erased the hard-won gains of Title IX on his first day in office.
